In most real estate transactions, the buyer pays for the home inspection. Since the inspection is performed for the buyer’s benefit, they hire the inspector and cover the cost.
However, some sellers choose to order a pre-listing inspection before putting their home on the market. This gives them a clear picture of the property’s condition, allows them to make repairs in advance, and can make the home more attractive to buyers. In this case, the seller pays for the inspection voluntarily.
